Abstract Art Video

Hello. I hope you are having a great year so far.

I had planned on posting an Inkscape vector I was almost finished with, but can’t now. I lost work and photos in an external hard drive accident. I may try to recreate it but, I don’t know yet. It had over a hundred layers and was so close to being complete.  It’s a good reminder to have proper backups for your work,  possibly at more than one place.  And I know now, be more careful and avoid accidentally erasing keys for encrypted files.

On a happier note, I have a new camcorder and finally have a newer version of Vegas that’s capable of editing AVCHD video.  I would like to post some video of my conventional drawing process and stuff soon.

Here is a video I made from abstract digital art, edited in Sony Vegas. The file was kind of large, I’ve yet to find the best settings for quality and small file size. Please let me know if it plays ok for you.  ~Hope you like it.

    • Hi Cher =)
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it! I am happy to be able to post in HD now. Just have to start working on the new videos.

    • Hi Janene =)
I think it wouldnt have been so bad if I wasnt so very close to completing it.
…Thank you!! I am glad you liked the video :D

  1. The day I opened this page, I realized that the college proxy servers have disallowed Youtube (and some others as Facebook, etc.), therefore I cannot see the video. But I will come back after I a private wireless connection.

  2. I am able to view the video, it was an excellent finish product, the abstract one. Did you create the art from the picture of the city?
It is very bad to know that you were not able to recover your data. Please keep good backups, do not encrypt the files, or if you do then please keep redundant copies of the decryption keys in different places.

    • Hi Arjun =)
Thank you! Yes, all from one original photo. There is a little story to it, but a sad one.

–I know. I am trying to keep more backups of my files online now. I am so bad, I didnt even realize the files were being encrypted on the external hard drive. I really wish I was able to understand computers, like you do. :]

      • Making backups online is a good idea, but i will also suggest to make another redundant copy in an external hdd without encryption or encrypted with the key :-) . This is because i think you would always like to keep your work in your hand, and access whenever you like, even if the internet fails for some cause, or the online services are disrupted.

        • Thanks Arjun =) I am going to, I just haven’t gotten around to reformatting my external Hd. I cant bring myself to delete it just yet.
That is a very good point. Having your files accessible regardless of internet service is an important consideration.
